I am a portraitist and wildlife photographer. Although I have journeyed between those two disparate worlds, I remain intrigued and inspired by timeless, iconic portraits. A lifelong love of the human face lead me to a deeper understanding of the relationship between photographer and subject in which an immortal record is captured. It is that powerful moment which drives my passion for portrait photography.

Most us have few, if any, truly iconic heirloom quality images of ourselves over our lifetime. Unlike fleeting selfies, these bold, singular images represent the only true indelible photographic record of our time on Earth. They are the images to which we return, time and again, to show who we are or what we were. Only the written word holds similar significance but can never bear the power of a classic human portrait.

I received my education at the Parsons School of Design in Paris, France. It was there, in the city of lights, that I first laid eyes on the iconic works of legendary photographers Julia Margaret Cameron, Yousuf Karsh, Margaret Bourke White, Henri Cartier Bresson, Peter Lindberg and Dominique Isserman. Their mastery of composition and innate understanding of the interplay of light and shadow forever changed the way I see the world.

My love of the classic beauty and endurance of an iconic black and white photograph remains a wellspring of creative inspiration.
